Privacy Policy — Proxy Manager
Last updated: 2026-09-01
Proxy Manager ("the extension") is a browser tool for managing and switching proxies, editing cookies, and clearing browsing data. This policy explains what data the extension handles and where it goes.
What the extension accesses
- Signing in to your Hell World account — When you sign in with the email/password form, those credentials are sent only to
https://hellworld.io to obtain an access token.
- "Auto-detect from hellworld.io" — This option does not submit your email or password. It reads an existing login token and username already present in the
localStorage of an open hellworld.io tab, and stores that token and username locally in the extension. It never reads your password.
- Your access token and proxy list are stored locally in the browser (
chrome.storage.local) and are never sent anywhere except back to hellworld.io for API calls you initiate.
- Proxy credentials — Proxy usernames/passwords you generate or add are stored locally. When you activate or test a proxy, these credentials are sent to that proxy server (the one being activated or tested) to authenticate the connection — this is the proxy's normal operation and is the only place they are transmitted. They are never injected into web pages and never sent to us or to any other third party.
- Cookies — The Cookie editor reads/edits/exports cookies only for the tab you are viewing and only when you open that tab. Nothing is transmitted off-device.
- Browsing data — The Privacy Cleaner clears the data types you explicitly select (cache, history, etc.), locally, when you click "Clean Now" or enable clean-on-switch. It never clears saved passwords.
Third-party data flow
- ipwho.is — When you test a proxy, or enable the optional Page HUD while connected, the extension makes a request through your proxy to
https://ipwho.is to look up the exit IP address and country of that proxy. This request contains no account credentials or personal data — only the proxy's own exit IP is revealed to ipwho.is (the same as visiting any website through that proxy). See ipwho.is's own policy at https://ipwho.is/.
What we do NOT do
- We do not run analytics, ads, or tracking.
- We do not sell or share any data.
- We do not transmit your credentials, cookies, or browsing data to us or to any third party other than the flows described above: your own Hell World account (login), the proxy servers you activate or test (proxy authentication), and the optional ipwho.is IP lookup through your proxy.
- We never transmit your cookies or browsing data off your device at all.
Storage & control
All account tokens, proxy lists, and settings live in your browser's local extension storage.
- Signing out removes your account token and profile from local storage. Your saved proxy list and preferences remain so you can keep using them without signing in again.
- Removing the extension deletes all of its local storage (token, proxy list, settings).
You can clear your saved proxies any time with "Clear All" in the Switcher, and disable the Page HUD (off by default) and the clean-on-switch option in Settings.
